A High Flying Day

It has certainly been a day, a birthday to remember! I’ve always been fascinated by the seaplanes that fly over our area, the harbor and the Sound and wondered what it would be like to fly in one, taking off and landing in the water, so I was delighted to see one land near where we were headed to pick up my niece. But I pushed those thoughts out of my mind and soon the three of us were headed into what I thought was a parking lot for a scenic area. Then I notice the sign on the building – Kenmore Air and my son had a smile a mile wide! We were going up in the seaplane to tour the harbor area of Seattle, Kirkland and Bellevue, the floating bridges and islands! And I got to sit in the co-pilot’s seat! It was an incredible flight; a cloudless blue sky, warm and sunny and one more of my dreams come true! We had lunch in one of my favorite restaurants, did some more sightseeing to show my niece some more of the city since she’s never been here before.

Then we came home, but there was more! One of our neighbors had invited us and our other camping buddy neighbors to a party, complete with delicious chocolate birthday cake and hilarious birthday cards!

What a fun, lovely, exciting and breathtaking way to celebrate my 75th birthday! Most precious of all, the look of excitement and pleasure on Adam’s face as we boarded the seaplane!

This was a day I will remember and treasure for a very long time. Am I blessed or what!

Yes, Sylvia, you are so blessed. Isn't it wonderful when one of our children want to do something so great for us and make one of our dreams come true. I am so excited for you! You had such a great birthday and you are so brave to get in the thing. I am scared to death of heights. Don't know if I could make myself do that. You will never forget this birthday.

How exciting and what a wonderful and thoughtful birthday gift from your son. Neat that he knew you so well. I bet it was fantastic as an experience. I have never taken off from water either but my favorite part of any flight is the take off and landing and i bet in water, it'd be even more so. :)
