Worth Checking Out

These Op-Ed pieces are well worth reading. One is Frank Rich's column and the other is Nicholas Kristof's column. There is also his blog address and his Facebook address.

I've followed these writer's for years and appreciate their knowledge and their outlook. I don't always agree 100%, but then I probably don't agree with anyone 100% -- including myself.

I invite you to comment on this column on my blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground, and to join me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/kristof.

I got a chuckle out of your last line in this post, about not agreeing with yourself 100% - reminded me of that Maxine cartoon, "Don't believe everything you think!" I'm just getting back into the swing of things after have had computer troubles for a few days, so will come back in a bit and check out those links.

Sylvia....I couldn't agree with these men more. The issue is not Obama's religion. In the end it is his color. They just do not find that politically correct to mention.

Those links are a combination of encouraging, because they have been written in the first place, and disheartening because of waht they reveal about the voting public. As Bill Mahler says, "People are too dumb to be governed" and thus a candidate can sling any old thing out there, and leave it to the fact-checkers to sort it out, comfortable in the knowledge that most of the public won't get that part of it. I like the part about Joy Behar and Morrow. Did you know she's on Larry King Monday night? OUght to be good!
